Policies
Policies, in plain words.
Cancellations & refunds
For private lessons, cancel from your dashboard (the Cancel button next to the lesson). The refund is worked out for you:
- 48+ hours beforeFull refund.
- Less than 48 hoursRefund minus a $5.99 late-cancellation fee.
- After it startsNo refund. A student who is more than 15 minutes late without telling us is marked as a no-show.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5–10 business days. For group classes and camps, email us if plans change and we'll sort it out with you.
Privacy & children's data
Many of our students are under 13, so we follow the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent or guardian sets up each student, and by booking, enrolling or applying you give consent for us to use the details below to teach your child.
What we collect
- Parent or guardian: name, email, and phone if you give it.
- Student: first and last name, grade, what they want help with, and notes you or our tutors add.
- A student email only if you choose to give them their own login. Under-13s never need one.
- Homework photos or PDFs your student hands in, and our feedback.
- For camps: your answers on the application and an emergency contact.
What we don't
- Card numbers. Payments happen on Stripe's secure page; we only see that you paid.
- Photos or recordings of students on our website or social media.
- Advertising trackers. We never sell or share your information.
Who can see it
Your family, and our tutors and staff, who sign in with a second security code. Homework files are private and only shown through links that expire. The services that run the site (Supabase for our database, Stripe for payments, Google for email) store data for us under their own privacy policies.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your family's information at any time by emailing sfmathopen@gmail.com. We keep payment records as long as the law requires, and delete the rest.
In class
- Be kind to classmates and tutors, in the chat and out loud.
- Join from a quiet place if you can, and ask questions any time.
- Zoom links are for your student only. Please don't share them.
- If something in a class makes you or your child uncomfortable, tell us and we'll deal with it straight away.
